An internal switch has been added under the battery compartment to allow you to choose between”Enhanced Bypass “ (buffered bypass) & True-Bypass, and with no popping or clacks in either mode.In the gain section, they have added Class A configured 2N5457 JFET input section to raise the input impedance from the previous 330K to 1 megaohms widening the dynamic range of the pedal. Not to be confused with version 1.2 this is version 2.0Īnd is officially acknowledged by Fulltone as the latest version. So I guess in the end they kind of do it now there was a 1.5 and 1.6 and I sort of roundabout way OCD version2 Eventually get a new circuit board labeled OCD v 1.7.Some of the early version 1.7 s were printed on old 1.4 circuit boards.note that even on versions labeled 1.5 and 1.6 in sharpie they’re still built on the 1.4 circuit board and so 1.4 is printed on the circuit board OCD version 1.7 in fact Mike fuller was even quoted as saying there are only 4 versions of the OCD and version 4 is the latest and yet if you open up the pedals they say 1.5 and 1.6.
Nobody at full tone fully acknowledges that there was a 1.5 and 1.6. Decreased the op-amp and tone capacitors to have a lower bass response.Replaced volume pot with a logarithmic pot.Added a germanium diode to the clipping section.Changed the volume pot from 100 to 500 K.Added more mid-range, softer highs, little less low-end.But based purely on the markings inside the pedals I’m going to call it 8 minor revisions and 1 major. So far eight known revisions have passed over the years, some would say a little controversial if they did or not. Like most pedals on the market, the OCD has gone through a few revisions. So, after a little convincing myself, I am now the proud owner of this pedal.Īnd is still, in my opinion, the best overdrive pedal you can have on your board. I’ve gotta say, I’m still impressed, there are some subtle tonal differences in the V2, but the thing I like most, it has just a little-added grit, nothing drastic, but definitely a noticeable change. I could have used a little more gain out of the pedal but still couldn’t complain as it’s served my needs well. The first one I got my hands on was the v1.3 and have played on it for quite some time.
I tried it out on an amp and guitar that matched my setup at home, played for about 20 min, ponied up, bought it that day and have never looked back. I was hooked and had to have one for myself.Ī month or two passed, and after researching, youtubing, and reading I ventured off to Guitar Center who just happened to have a used one in stock. Out of this seemingly innocent looking pedal came this full-bodied gritty tone from this tiny little combo amp!Īfter the set, I laughingly asked, what the hell is that thing? He plugged in, got tuned up, hit the pedal and started playing and instantly my ears lit up like a Christmas tree! He brings in nothing more than a guitar, combo amp, and two pedals a tuner and the OCD. So, during our first break, I invited him up to play a set with us. I had a friend in the room that was a phenomenal guitar player, and just happened to have his gear in the car from a previous show, The first time I ever even heard of the Fulltone OCD was back in 2008 while playing a gig.
